Cardel Homes is seeking an Estimator with previous Residential Construction experience.This position is responsible for ensuring Cardel Homes’ pricing and invoices are accurate, and must exemplify Cardel’s philosophy of quality, honesty, integrity and hard work in their business dealings with internal and external customers.Position Summary
  • Provide estimating services to appropriate departments
  • Update and maintain pricing on standard models
  • Produce and maintain specifications for standard and model plans
  • Generate material purchase orders and approve corresponding invoices
ResponsibilitiesA. Timberline Estimating Program
  1. Develop and maintain computerized estimates and pricing for standard, premier and floor plans, options and elevations
    • provide support to Sales department and Cardel Designs by responding in a timely manner to requests for pricing
    • assist in maintaining options price lists for Sales department and Cardel Designs departments
  2. Ensure accuracy of estimating data for all relevant models
  3. Maintain plan specifications
  4. Prepare accurate building material purchase orders for all homes
  5. Purchase orders to include all relevant information required by sub-trades to construct homes
  6. Approve invoices generated from estimating purchase orders
B. Sub-Trade and Supplier Relationships
  1. As required, assist in soliciting and reviewing pricing for new sub-trades
C. Estimating Department Staff
  1. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  2. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skills
  3. Assist other departments or areas in Cardel as required and as time permits
D. Cost Efficiency
  1. Investigate relevant cost effective solutions
    • identify recurring problems and take corrective measures
    • develop innovative ways to ensure estimating functions are running efficiently
  • Minimum certificate in computer-aided Estimating and Basic Construction Practices from an accredited institution
  • 1-3 years work experience in estimating
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Communicate effectively with Cardel staff, managers, trades
  • Solid time management, spec writing and computer skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Timberline Estimating, Builder MT and other relevant software
  • 3 years field experience building homes
