Drafting Supervisor (Residential Construction)

Supervising a team of Architectural Technologists, the Drafting Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Setting department priorities, including the proper distribution and scheduling of drawings to meet production requirements.
  • Overseeing and implementing process improvements.
  • Reviewing and suggesting design improvements.
  • Evaluating staffing needs.
  • Assuring the quality and accuracy of the deliverables produced by the drafting group.

This is the perfect position for a senior-level technologist with a minimum of 5 years of residential experience and BCIN qualifications. You will have the ability to apply consistent standards and practices on dozens of concurrently maintained plans, the ability to interact effectively with municipal staff to expedite permit applications, and a solid understanding of Ontario codes, standards and construction practices. Proficiency in both Windows and Mac operating systems and Revit will be an asset.

Construction and Warranty Coordinator

As a Construction and Warranty Coordinator, you will work on-site in the construction office to uphold the company’s standard of outstanding customer service as you look after the needs of new homeowners. You will be responsible for:

  • coordinating with customers and service technicians for appointments.
  • maintaining the warranty database and entering work orders.
  • maintaining homeowner files as well as homeowner and vendor portals.
  • handling customer and vendor inquiries.
  • scheduling and monitoring routine and emergency warranty items.
  • providing weekly reports to management on construction and warranty items.
  • providing additional administrative support to the team.

Your ability to multi-task, your technical aptitude and computer proficiency, your high level of customer service and overall construction knowledge will help you be successful in this role.

Labourer

As a Labourer, you will be energetic and self-motivated with the responsibility of ensuring site safety, providing new residential site cleans and completing minor carpentry tasks. To be successful in this position, you will be safety-focused, possess a valid Ontario driver’s license, and a carry a professional demeanor. Previous experience with residential construction sites is an asset. This is a physically demanding position which will require you to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

You must provide your own steel-toe boots and a reliable mode of transportation. Short-listed candidates will be required to provide a drivers’ abstract and criminal record check.

Handyman

Cardel Homes is looking for a Handyman with a professional demeanor, a willingness to work in a team environment, and a desire to provide exceptional customer service. In this position, you will be responsible for providing pre-possession finishing work, post-possession service work, ensuring site safety and cleanliness as well as other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor. You will be required to work diplomatically to solve problems in the building and be cost-conscious and honest when working with the construction team, vendors, and contractors. You will bring 5-6 years of rough and finish carpentry experience as well as working knowledge of the mechanical and technical systems.

This is a physically demanding position which will require you to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. You must provide your own tools and a reliable mode of transportation (i.e. truck or van). Short-listed candidates may be required to provide a recent driver’s abstract and criminal record check.

Warranty Technician

As a Warranty Technician, you will report to the Assistant Warranty Manager and work with a team consisting of other Technicians, Site Supervisors, Finishing Foremen, Handymen, Labourers and Coordinators. You will be responsible for: addressing pre-occupancy and post possession homeowner concerns, conducting visual inspections of warranty issues, performing ‘hands-on’ repairs and scheduling additional services with sub-trades.

You will have previous experience in residential construction or renovations with extensive knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Tarion and Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act. You will also be an independent self-starter, possess strong customer service and communication skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You will be required to provide your own tools.
