As an Architectural Technologist, you will join our drafting team in the preparation of site and grading plans, the interaction with clients related to custom design and detailing, and the customization of standard building plans to suit the clients’ selections of options and upgrades.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare preliminary plot plans and produce customer working drawings
  • Prepare and submit building permit applications, monitor and process approvals and building permits
  • Prepare site and grading plans
  • Produce final house plans for production
  • Interact with clients related to custom design and detailing
  • Customize standards building plans for clients’ selections of options and upgrades

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in architectural technology or design
  • 3+ years of residential experience and hold a valid BCIN
  • Strong understanding of Ontario codes, standards, and construction techniques
  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
  • Professional and effective communication skills
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-management skills
  • Time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

As the Land Development Coordinator, you will assist in planning and delivering high-quality community development projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project plans, designs, development analysis, and market research.
  • Assist with project management across various stages of development, from acquisition to registration and assumption.
  • Provide project support both in-field and in-office for various communities.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external consultants and internal teams.
  • Assist in facilitating the submissions of development and approval applications, including a plan of subdivision and zoning by-laws and amendments.
  • Assist in overseeing construction progress, identify field-related damage problems, and liaise with appropriate personnel to achieve resolutions.
  • Attend meetings, assist with presentations, and coordinate the execution of action items.
  • Create and maintain project proformas on development opportunities and acquisitions.
  • Assist with budget and schedule management.
  • Complete other administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in civil engineering, land use planning, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience in a planning and development role preferred
  • Experience working on projects and managing consultants and contractors (land development preferred)
  • Familiarity with the City of Ottawa and surrounding regions’ planning and development policies and approval processes
  • Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong time management, prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • Effective critical thinking, problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Exhibits professionalism, tact, courtesy, and diplomacy skills
  • Excellent file and document management skills
  • Advanced computer skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Outlook), Acrobat Adobe, electronic devices, scheduling and drafting software
  • AutoCAD skills related to subdivision planning will be considered an asset

Work Conditions:

  • Office environment requires finger dexterity and might involve sitting for long periods of time.
  • Construction site visits and off-site meetings at various locations.
